A university project for Polynorm Bouwprodukten B.V.
Polynorm Bouwprodukten is one of the largest manufacturers of doors and doorframes in the Netherlands. It is part of the large Polynorm N.V. company. They mainly supply to the social housing market. Since that market is in permanent decline, there is a need for a new product, market or technology for Polynorm. Our design team developed the idea of a new door for the growing market of luxury houses and appartments. This door consists of a fast mounting curved doorframe and a so-called wall-panel. That innovation makes it possible to use door holes in the wall reaching from top to bottom, which is preferable to doorheight holes. The door/doorframe combination has the appeal that the luxury market wants, whereas price is not much higher than a normal door. This project consisted of market research, developing new ideas using creativity techniques, conceptualization and detailling. The product has not yet been taken into production, although a large competitor is taking steps to produce a similar door.
Polynorm Bouwprodukten is now Theuma.
