Speed up my what?

According to the book Speed Up Your Site I have too many images on my homepage. That’s what http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/ tells me, anyway.

I protest! All 23 images are thumbnails chuck full of content. What am I supposed to do? Add some paging functionality so that users can browse through the thumbnails? Hmm, perhaps I’ll create that some day.
